What to wear TIPS:

Maternity:

First and foremost, wear what is most comfortable and most “you”. Clothing for maternity and couples maternity photography shoots should be tight-fitting around the belly. Loose and baggy shirts will only hide that adorable belly we are trying to show off! Tight-fitting tank tops, button down shirts that can be tied or unbuttoned above the belly, scarfs that can be wrapped around your breasts and jeans without a maternity band are all great suggestions. Please pay special attention to your undergarments if you are scheduling a more intimate, in-studio session. I highly recommend purchasing a new bra/panty set in both black and nude/white prior to your session. Often times, these will show so please keep that in mind. Keep clothing selections for maternity portraits simple. Too many stripes and busy patterns can hide the stomach or detract attention away from it. Instead, stick with solid colors. Think about adding punch with a trendy necklace or earrings, or  perhaps a pop of color with a cardigan or a cute scarf!  Also, when you layer, we can change the look simply by adding or removing a layer.

Newborn & Family:

Keep it simple. Throw in a little color in if you’d like, but skip the busy patterns. (And please don’t feel the need to match everyone in white shirts and jeans – there’s simple…and then there’s boring!)
For moms, I suggest cotton knit camis and knit tops.
I am also a fans of skin-on-skin portraits with you holding your baby against you. They’re so simple + timeless but that is not for everyone so please share with me your feelings on it! If you want some portraits like this with your newborn, consider a strapless top or tank as an alternative.
